Copper Moon Ground Coffee, Medium Roast, Cold Brew Special Blend

Copper Moon Ground Coffee, Medium Roast, Cold Brew Special Blend

The Setup

Cold brew is one of those things that sounds more complicated than it actually is. The Copper Moon Cold Brew Special Blend comes pre-ground at a coarse consistency specifically designed for cold brewing, which is a huge convenience — no grinder required. I grabbed a few brew bags, filled them up, dropped them into a 5-gallon bucket, added water, and put it in my kegerator. That's basically it.

The Brew

After about 18 hours in the kegerator, I grab a sample and gave it a taste. As a medium roast, the Copper Moon blend hits a really nice balance point. It's smooth without being flat, with enough body to stand up to milk or creamer but mellow enough to drink straight over ice. There's a subtle sweetness to it — nothing over the top, just a natural sweetness that you get from a well-done cold brew process.

Filling the keg

I didn't pick up any harsh bitterness, which is really the whole point of cold brew. The slow, cold extraction pulls out all the good stuff and leaves the bitter acids behind. This blend nails that.
